Responsible experimenter for VHF radar:
Resources: UK(4) [format: <Associate code>(<hours>), eg EI(50)]
Notes
Sampling of the auroral zone whilst Cluster traverses the auroral acceleration region (AAR) conjugate to EISCAT. Standard experiment codes with good F-region resolution will be employed (e.g. steffe on ESR and tau8 on mainland) This is a joint experiment between the UK, Sweden and Norway, with SW and NO providing the hours for these runs (UK provided bulk of hours for previous runs) Sweden: 16 mainland hours, 16 ESR hours Norway: 16 mainland hours 8th September 1200-1600 UT (UHF, VHF and ESR): UHF pointing towards magnetic south (i.e. bearing 164 degrees geographic) with elevation 24 degrees from the horizon 17th September 1300-1700 UT (UHF, VHF and ESR): UHF pointing towards magnetic south (i.e. bearing 164 degrees geographic) with elevation 71 degrees from the horizon In both cases, the mainland VHF pointing vertically, and the ESR 42m operating, as with the previous conjunctions. Note that one of these replaces the 11th July run, which had to be cancelled.
