Notes
This EISCAT campaign will support the Vorticity Experiment (VortEx) rocket campaign designed to study mesoscale structures in the wind field in the lower thermosphere (90-130 km). VortEx consists of two identical salvoes with two payloads each to be launched in March 2023 from Andoya, Norway: in situ measurements of neutral density, temperature, ion and electron parameters and electric fields will be made. Common volume ground-based wind observations will be made by a meteor radar using multiple receivers to obtain a 3D wind field at meteor heights (85-100 km). Additional winds in the lower thermosphere will be derived from the EISCAT observations of the vector ion drift. This EISCAT campaign will be made under collaborations of Norway(24hrs), Sweden(30hrs), UK(36hrs), DLR (Germany; 6hrs), Japan(14hrs), and EISCAT PP(20hrs). Two types of CP-2 mode will be run.
