Description:	Characterisation of plasma density structures originating radio wave scintillation at VHF and L band
Notes	The proposed experiment is a continuation of previous campaigns which provided (a) an inter-calibration between EISCAT and GNSS Total Electron Content (TEC) [1], (b) the identification of properties of auroral ionisation structures originating L-band scintillation [2] and (c) characterisation of plasma density irregularities along specific phase screen(s), together with the indication of the outer scale and the medium thickness [2, 4-5]. Following from (b), the proposed experiment intends to advance the understanding of the mechanisms behind large-to-small scale structures in the auroral ionosphere and how they originate scintillation at VHF (KAIRA) and L-band (GNSS). The radars’ beams can be made to align and/or intersect ray paths of relevance, such as from astronomical radio sources and GNSS satellites.
