Responsible experimenter for VHF radar:
Resources: GE(24) [format: <Associate code>(<hours>), eg EI(50)]
Notes
Aim: observe PMSEs using tri-static radar configuration Requested observation time: 3 time slots (00-08 UT) on 7-9 July, total 24 hours of VHF tri-static experiment (Tromsø, Kiruna, Sodankylä). The campaign is an extension of the tri-static PMSE/dusty plasma experiment proposed by Ingrid Mann. The focus is to use PMSEs as a tracer of horizontal motions due to atmospheric gravity waves (AGWs). Neutral atmospheric movements would be simultaneously observed by multi-static meteor radars for the cross-comparison with EISCAT. An extended continuous observation time allows to retrieve oscillations caused by AGWs with periods of few hours. An additional information about plasma properties will be obtained from the analysis. Participants: Dimitry Pokhotelov (DLR), Gunter Stober (U.Bern) and Ingrid Mann (UiT). This is a first observation campaign to start a collaboration with the new EISCAT Affiliate at DLR-Neustrelitz.
